Savaya in the rain: what the venue's terms say

Savaya publishes no rain policy beyond one line: an event can be cancelled for inclement weather, and guestlist registrations do not transfer. How to plan a wet night on the cliff.

Savaya does not publish a rain policy. The one line on weather in its terms is that an event can be cancelled for inclement weather, and that guestlist registrations are not transferable to another night. Its FAQ says nothing else about rain, covered areas or refunds, so neither do we: on a wet day, check the night's page and ask before you set off.

What Savaya's terms actually say

Savaya is an open-air clifftop club in Pecatu, Uluwatu, with pools and The Cube framing the horizon. Its guestlist terms contain the only weather rule the venue publishes: events can be cancelled for inclement weather, and registrations are not transferable. That is all. The venue does not say what counts as inclement, does not promise that a night goes ahead in the rain, and does not describe which spaces are sheltered.

Desa Kitsuné, its sister venue in Canggu, is the one that advertises "rain or shine"; Savaya makes no such promise. Its rules are covered in Desa Kitsuné, rain or shine.

On a day that looks wet

  • Check the night's page on our events page before you leave. If the venue changes or cancels a night, that is where it shows.
  • Ask [the concierge](/concierge), who can check with the venue. We never tell you a night is on until Savaya says so.
  • Keep a back-up night in mind. If a night is called off, your guestlist registration does not move: you register again on the page of the night you want.

The guestlist does not change with the weather

You register individually on the night's page and receive a digital ticket by email. Joining is free; entry is complimentary before the cutoff shown on that page and reduced after it. Registration does not guarantee complimentary entry, management decides, and mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred. Some nights are ticketed only, with no list at all. The full rules are in the Savaya guestlist guide, and the choice between a ticket, the list and a table in Savaya: tickets, guestlist or table.

Dressing for a wet evening

The dress code is smart casual whatever the sky does. Work jeans and denim, beer-branded singlets, cut-off clothing and athletic sportswear are not permitted, so a sports rain jacket is a poor bet; a light, smart layer is safer. Swimwear belongs in the pools, not on the rest of the club. The detail is in the Savaya dress code.

What to carry

Savaya searches every bag, has limited lockers and does not accept luggage, so a large umbrella or a bag of spare clothes is more trouble than help. The venue is cashless. Bring the original of a valid passport or driver's licence: entry is strictly 21+. The rest of the list is in what to bring to Savaya.

A table on a rainy night

A table is the only reserved space at Savaya, a fixed base for your group with a minimum spend that the venue sets per night, and it is also what allows re-entry. The venue's table maps name areas such as the Lounge, Daybeds, The Cube Sofas and Cabanas, but say nothing about which are covered, and we will not guess. If shelter matters, tell the concierge: we pass the request to Savaya, which decides the placement. The table is yours once the venue confirms it, and any deposit follows the venue's terms and is not a confirmation. More in booking a table at Savaya.

Sunset nights and cloud

Last Light on Mondays and People of the Sun on Sundays are built around the sunset. Cloud can hide the sun on any evening; the night itself is the venue's call, not the forecast's. See Savaya Last Light.

Getting there in the rain

Rain makes a scooter a poor choice for the road to the cliff and back. A private driver drops you off and returns when you are ready; FirstBali arranges drivers, and the route is covered in getting to Savaya.

How FirstBali helps

Tell the concierge the night and the group. We send the guestlist page when the night has one, ask Savaya for a table, check with the venue when the weather turns, and organise the ride. An assistant answers at any hour, and the team works through the Bali day and evening.
